John Clark, communications manager at Roush Performance Products of Livonia, said the company's "Monster" version of the F-150 offers 445hp with 500lb-ft. of torque produced by the stock 5.4-liter, three-valve engine.
Now in production and available at dealers nationwide, this top-of-the-line pickup starts at about $40,000, depending on options, and includes an exterior styling package, handling and suspension upgrades, and the ROUSHcharger system, which produces the truck's extra power.
Clark said in addition to the full-bore Stage 3 described above, customers can select Stage 1, which is a stock F-150 with the exterior styling package only; or Stage2, which couples the exterior styling additions with the handling and suspension enhancements.
The Stage 3, which is the version Roush engineers are most excited about, isn't for timid. Clard said the Roush Stage 3 target customer is a male who has a love of driving and occasionally has to haul things around. The vehicle was designed by the same engineers who have helped Jack Roush win 34 racing championships, including a pair in NASCAR.
The vehicle's enhancements include sport-tuned suspension system, which has specially valved front and rear shock absorbers, increased rate rear leaf springs, front coil springs and a large diameter solid front sway bar.
The Stage 3's styling details include custom 20-inch rims and tires, a front chin spoiler, hood scoop with carbon fiber design insert, and optional side skirts with dual outlet exhaust tips, wheel flares and tailgate spoiler.
The truck is proving to be a hot seller, said Clark. He said Roush is on schedule to have one of its best years ever. The company expects to sell over 1,000 of the trucks, and is planing to increase sales next year.
