The new Ecotec for the GXP Solstice

Straight from GM High - Tech......

The new Ecotec for the GXP Solstice will be a Turbocharged 2.0L engine, which pumps out an awsome 2.1 horses per cubic inch.

This engine is a 122ci, and fetures Forged steel crank, forged rods, and forged pistons. The engine has a unique "for-direct-inject" aluminum head, with sodium filled exaust valves. The fuel injectors mount in the head itself, and inject fuel directly into the combustion chambers at much greater pressures, which are over 1,200PSI. This technology is aimed at reaching much better fuel economy, better emissions, and much greater performance over a standard EFI system.

This is all coupled with Variable Valve Timing, a Twin-Scroll Turbo, and an air to air intercooler, which pumps out 260 horspower, and 260 ft-lbs of torque.

The current Solstice weights in at under 3,000 lbs....which will make the GXP a ROCKET......And Just to add that I cannot wait until these come out and what they do when people start modding them :smt023

A lot of power for a small car. Should run good.

It also scoots to 60 in under 5.5 secs. Handles extremely well stock and a hard top is due out soon too. I just want one.

yep this is the same exact setup thats going to be in the Sky also. IMO i think its going to be way better of a setup than the 2.0 S/C they are running right now. If i was to get one id wait a year or 2 after they come out...so they can work out the bugs.

That and I would wait until the Sky comes out with that engine....the Sky looks alot better IMHO....

This engine should be nice and easy to modify, and If your not happy with that then theres always the Mallet LS2 :smt048

DISI (direct injection spark ignition engines) are going to redefine boosted performance. The boost can be cranked up and ignition advanced to optimum levels. (for a number of reasons which i wont go into now)

Only downside... i dont want to know the cost of upgrading your injectors/fuel system. The cost to play is going to go way up!

BTW.. Diesel injectors can hit over 25,000psi, which kinda makes the 1,200psi seem weak.. :smt048

I agree, the Sky looks like a miniature vette, kinda reminds me of the old Opel GTs...only fast!
