Detroit News - GM:New Transmission

GM's new six-speed automatic transmission
The brand-new 6L80 automatic transmission will be used to improve the fuel economy and performance of vehicles like the Chevrolet Corvette, Cadilac STS-V, and GMC Yukon. GM invested $450 million to produce the 6L80 at its Willow Run transmission plant.

"As well as fuel economy, six-speeds offer great performance benefits because the shifts are quicker and more precise," said David Petrovski, analyst of North American powertrains with consultant CSM Worldwide, Farmington.

Yea I'm suprised they don't have them, but I personally like so shift gears myself the old fashioned way.

You seen the HUD for the new vette's? If I remember right it shows the lateral g's, along with the tach and speedo. That is sweet.
