actually they dont add teeth onto the ring gear... if they added gears onto the ring gear then that would make the pinion gear even smaller which makes it very weak. Its a combo of teeth to the ring gear and the pinion gear... if you added to many teeth too one gear then it would become extremely weak. So basically its an even amount that adds up to be the 3.73 ratio
