Well depends on the car its going in, you have a lot of chocies. And all of these you can probably find good cores at junkyards if your adamant about your search, and aware of basic engine parameters required for a rebuild.

472
454
440 <-Mopar
427
396

If memory serves me well all of those are big blocks. (Yes i know bore and stroke a SBC will also result in 427s and 396s, but we want BBs only)

Now what kind of car are you putting it in? That would determine the possible manufacturer of the motor you are looking for.

Now it all depends on whether your going to build a block up, or buy a prebuilt motor. If your experienced at motor building than you probably dont need my help here. Whereas if you dont wanna attempt it yourself you can buy one prebuilt with various options on ebay as long as you look hard enough.

If you wanna do it yourself...and save money (oxymoron in this hobby)

Parts Galore has plenty of motors, you gotta rip them out yourself, but no big deal, plus if you buy with the guarantee you can return it if it is unfit, for store credit. This way you can go and rip out a motor, than you can take it home, clean her up, measure her up and see if shes a sturdy block and then take her to a machine shop to get cut nice and fresh. And then you can continue with the components. You take the block apart after you get it home find its all fudged up you can return it and get another one.

If you do it yourself than you probably want an engine rebuild manual so you can spec out the motor, check all the critical bearing clearances etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

have fun.
